MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING
WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 25, 2019
The Sierra County Children and Families Commission met on Wednesday, August 25, 2019, at 1:00PM in the First 5 Sierra Office, 701 Main Street, Loyalton, California, led by Mary Wright, Chairperson.
The meeting was called to order at 1:12M by Chairperson, Mary Wright.
FLAG SALUTE
Mary Wright led the Flag Salute.
ROLL CALL
Present: James Beard, Laurie Marsh, Mary Wright, Anne Reugebrink
Absent: Shanna Anseth, Andrea Ceresola White
Staff Members Present: Allison Smith, Executive Director
Staff Members Absent: Kelly Champion, Business Manager
Public Present: Louise Huebner
APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Mr. Beard moved to approve the agenda, Ms. Marsh seconded the motion, and the agenda was unanimously approved.
PUBLIC COMMENT
Ms. Wright opened the public comment at 1:15PM. Louise Huebner presented her proposal for a Family Literacy Program for children and families living in the West Side of Sierra County. As this side of the county has had very limited daycare and no preschool services for the past year, her proposal fills a gap in the goals of the First 5 Strategic Plan, to provide school readiness programs for all Sierra County Children. The public comment period closed at 1:34PM.
NEW BUSINESS
Approve Contract with Louise Huebner for Family Literacy Program in Sierra City in an amount not to exceed $10,000 for FY 2019-2020
Ms. Marsh moved to approve the contract with Louise Huebner in the amount of $10,000 not to exceed for the Fiscal Year 2019-2020. Ms. Reuegebrink seconded the motion and the motion carried unanimously.
Approve Contract with Hayley Cayuga Evans for Music Together Program in an amount not to exceed $3400 for FY 2019-2020
Mr. Beard moved to approve the contract with Hayley Cayuga Evans in the amount of $3400 not to exceed for the Fiscal Year 2019-2020. Ms. Reuegebrink seconded the motion and the motion was carried unanimously.
ADVANCED PLANNING
The next regular meeting of the SCCFC is scheduled to be held on Friday, October 25, 2019, at 9:30AM in the First 5 Sierra office, located at 701 Main Street, Loyalton, California.
ADJOURNMENT
Ms. Marsh moved to adjourn the meeting, Mr. Beard seconded the motion and with unanimous vote the meeting adjourned at 1:47PM.
